Shoe history is a very complex topic with there being so many things to cover but to simplify things I will be talking about major shoe brands’ past. And including and talking about some of the most iconic shoes in the game. The first big shoe brand was established in February 1908 in Malden, Massachusets. Converse dominated the shoe game from athletes to proper footwear for almost all of the 1900s. Big athletes like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird sponsored Converse while Nike and Adidas were still on the come up. But in the 1980s after Nike formed a contract with Michael Jordan and released the Jordan 1 they took over. When Jordan exploded in 1998 because the sales from 96’ to 98’ almost doubled. And during this time converse sales were declining rapidly with Adidas sales staying steady. Also in 1996 under armor became established with shoes but they weren’t that big. The next revolutionary shoe came out in 2002 in Crocs which didn't take off from the start but tripled in quarterly sales in 2006. And Crocs have picked back up in popularity. Lastly, the classic Jordan 1 that we all love has 1000s of different colorways and designs. Even though it is 20 years later jordans are still one of the most popular shoes.
